Saudi Crown Prince: We support the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council and its aspirations to start a new phase in Yemen.. We are keen for Yemen to enjoy security and stability.
On Thursday, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman received the President of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi and members of the Council, where he expressed the Kingdom’s support for the Council and its aspiration that its founding would contribute to the beginning of a new phase in Yemen that would move it from war to peace and development.
He also expressed his hope that the next stage will be different, noting the determination and optimism of all.
Prince Mohammed bin Salman expressed the Kingdom’s keenness to ensure that Yemen enjoys security and stability.
The meeting was attended by Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Minister of Defense, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of State, Member of the Cabinet, National Security Adviser Dr. Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban, Head of State Security Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Huwairini, Chief of General Intelligence Mr. Khalid Al-Humaidan, and Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques in Yemen, Mr. Mohammed Al Jaber.
The Yemeni President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi issued, at dawn today, Thursday, a decision to form a presidential leadership council that all the President’s powers shall be transferred to it in accordance with the constitution, the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanism. The President also issued a decision to relieve his deputy, Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar, from his position.
The presidential statement stated that the new presidential leadership council in Yemen shall take over the political, military and security management of the country throughout the transitional period.
